Hey, Amie, thanks! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. While I had no lines, I did actually have a full scene where I interacted with Tim Gunn, Sofia Vergara, and Hank Azaria. But I think the script's low-brow humor in the scene was probably deemed too naughty for a children's audience, so in the final cut I only make that fleeting appearance and the rest of the scene was cut. Still, it was a lot of fun to shoot, everyone was incredibly nice, and I'm glad you folks got a chance to see it. I hope all's well with you and yours. :-)

I didn't know you were going to be in this movie. I finally got around to watching the DVD with my three children and I recognized you right away. It was a nice surprise and we really enjoyed your performance.

Thanks, Alice! It was like the actor olympics, and we had so much fun. The audiences really had a good time. At one of the performances Tim saw, he had a couple of women behind him who were having a particularly jolly time enjoying all the costume changes that Joe and I had. Halfway through the scene in which I played Mrs. McGarrigle, the hyper hostess of a Scottish bed and breakfast, one of the women turned to the other and whispered very loudly in disbelief: "That's a MAN!" I love hearing about things like that. ;-)

Andrew, I love the photos - so much fun to see you in so many different roles. I have heard that it was a great production, if a bit challenging for the actors, and that you all brought the audience to delightful heights of hilarity. So sorry I couldn't see it. Hope your next role is right around the corner.

Love you much,

Alice

Thank you for your note, James; I only wish I could have met your father sooner, and had him in my life longer! I'm afraid I won't be at the November 10th Memorial, as I'm currently out of town doing a show. But I digitized all the old photos of Donald for Jeremy to use in the presentation, and I'm creating the program for the event. So those will need to be my silent contributions to the day. I'm sure it will be a beautiful session with lots of lovely reminiscences. I'll be there in spirit!

Thank you, Andrew; that was a beautiful, thoughtful reminiscence. And Richard Yarnell, you captured Donald's Equity work side amazingly well. I hope to see you both at Equity Nov. 10, for his Memorial.

Thanks,
James

Paul, the feeling is mutual. You were a wonderful Kent. I had a fantastic time working with you, and I know that Donald did, too. You and I were very lucky to spend that time with Donald. I think it was a great learning experience for us all. :-)

Hi Andrew...just saw this and it's so great. Lear was one of those rare shows were everything and everyone felt right. In no small part that was because of Donald and it was a joy to work with him on that wonderful production. He was a lovely man but also had a lot of guts. Playing a massive, load-bearing, Shakespearean role in your 80's is not for the faint of heart. And he did it so damn well! Thanks for writing this Andrew. I lucked out getting to work with both of you in the same show!
